Bretta and the knight

I have to say that one of my favorite hobbies is video games. However, I don’t always find a game that gets me so hooked. But this one had something special, perhaps because of its adorable designs and its melancholic appearance or perhaps because of its gameplay that was more similar to the games of yesteryear. A mixture that I must say that I fell in love with. And, despite having an unconventional narrative, I ended up totally getting into its environment.

Mavuika FanArt

Sometimes my fanart or illustrations ideas came from requests from my husband. Like this one, this time the character is Mavuika from Genshin Impact. My husband fall in love with the character and immediately asked me for a fanart. However, I struggled a lot with the fabric texture, I must admit that I still have a hard time handling certain kind of fabrics, especially latex. But well, the main change I did here was the internet joke that the character looks too much as Sunset Shimmer from Equestria Girls, so I draw Maviuka with the same colors as Sunset Shimmer. I like the result, the only thing was the fabric… but I try it. Anyway, I hope you like it.

They have been difficult times since the appearance of the famous “AI” in our lives. Thousands of jobs are on the brink of collapse and unfortunately there is no defense for the working class. Although the sector that has hurt me the most and has been the famous “art” created by this abominable tool. I may be old fashioned but I will never accept that type of content. Since trying to replace something as valuable and unique as art seems to me, as I have said before, a complete abomination. We can automate stuff, we can use it to do repetitive work and dangerous for humans, but using to trying supplant human soul I think there is no forgiveness to that.

In principle I wanted to vary the Digital a little, although each technique has its particular way of creation, the traditional one has always had something special. Although I must admit that the lack of Ctrl+Z is an aggravation that makes me suffer many times. But hey, it’s always good to go back to the roots, and as I’ve always said, anyone who knows how to draw knows how to draw with any material or technique, whether digital or traditional.

2018: This month I wanted to do something more Mexican related. As a Mexican, I must admit that I rarely do things related to my culture, that’s why I decided this year to make an adaptation of Catrina for this Día de Muertos. This Catrina is based on the original Catrina from José Guadalupe Posada.

2022: I haven’t uploaded illustrations for a long time; with so much work I haven’t had time to dedicate myself to illustrating, or rather, I’ve been dedicating myself to many things. Anyway, despite the #affinitober right now, which is about daily drawings, I decided to make a Catrina. I love that it can be very detailed and colorful; that’s something I love about Mexican culture.

My husband has been a fan of this manga since it first came out in Spain. Berserk has been a worldwide phenomenon in the genre of shonen setting in a Medieval Europe with a dark fantasy world. Manga was written by Kentaro Miura, who unfortunately passed away a few days ago and that made my husband very sad, since he has followed his work since the begining. So I offered him to do a fanart to honor one of his favorite authors, and he asked me to recreate this mythical scene in the manga, which is the first kiss between Casca and Guts, one of his favorite couples in the anime world.

My husband sometimes has crazy ideas based on his favorite videogames and sagas. And sometimes he comes to me with unorthodox requests. And this time he wanted an illustration of a Warhammer 40k Salamanders Chapter Space Marines hosting a barbecue for young children. According to him, in the videogame these rather warlike marines are basically a piece of cake.

Request from my husband . I always try to learn every time I try a new illustration, so with this illustration I decided to try a new way of drawing. Using the traditional drawing base, I decided to make the fit of the figure with vector geometric shapes, and from there I went on detailing each part of the body. I must admit that I liked the result and that it’s a technique that I will continue to use in the future. I must admit that working with Affinity Designer has been a great discovery for me, and now I enjoy vector illustration more thanks to this software. In addition, the texture of latex is somewhat complicated, however thanks to it’s tools and the appropriate references, I found the texture I was looking for for clothing.

I have to admit that Bojack Horseman was a series that I loved from the beginning. Its acid humor and its complex story based on anthropomorphic animals seemed very original to me. So when my husband and I finally finished the last season, I decided to make a fanart of this series. Therefore I thought about which of these characters I had liked the most and I opted for Princess Carolyn, since I really liked its design and personality from the beginning of the series and it has been the one that has evolved the most throughout the series.
