It’s been years since I last touched such a delicate topic. After some years trying to make my creative studio work, I have finally decided to say goodbye to this trademark I bought in the past.
These last days I’ve been thinking about what I was going to do with it, and I realized that making products on my creative studio website really didn’t give me any income. Also, it has been like I was dragging a corpse wherever I went. It’s not that I don’t enjoy making new content, but I’m tired of making it under that account. It’s complicated thinking about new products and just uploading related content. So I decided to do a kind of merging between KoriStudio and CutyDina.

When I started this project, my return to Colima was just beginning. So I had to think of a way to restart my career after so many years away from my homeland. I started looking for Spanish/Latin clients, but those clients never came, maybe one or two in the last 11 years, but not enough to continue trying to create a reputation for the brand that I acquired 10 years ago.
It’s funny… I spent some months thinking of a good name for my trademark name. I also made a lot of logo samples to get to the logo I wanted. I also paid for copyright at that time for the trademark. However, it didn’t work as I expected. I know that it is something very common in business models, and taking into account the factor of the oversaturation of artists and audiovisual content in the market, it is complicated, since hundreds of works and products are published every day, and only those who really know how to sell themselves or do an outstanding job are the ones that can live off their own art.
In the meantime, I started working as a freelancer, and fortunately, I started finding clients in other countries, mainly USA and United Kingdom. So my projects in Spanish weren’t really helping me create clients or gain more recognition, so I started translating all of them into English, but that didn’t work either. I needed to invest too much in publicity and in giving time that I didn’t have due to my new job as a freelance illustrator. So I decided to put KoriStudio on pause for some years. I thought about making more complex projects, I also started to learn Unity and started building some videogames. But the same issue as before—work wouldn’t let me. First I needed to have enough income to survive, and that gave me only a few weeks off, but then came a long streak of work and I had to put aside my projects, and in the end, I lost track of what I was doing.
Years passed and now I get it. I was dragging a trademark without success. Even my children’s books were alone under this abandoned brand. Also, I decided to open a brand page on LinkedIn, but it was so empty that I could hear crickets chirping around that page. Finally, after some meditation, I decided that it was time to give KoriStudio a proper ending. And I decided to link all products to this website, my working freelancer website. So now, those products will no longer be products, they will become part of my portfolio. Now if you look for those projects, you can see that all these abandoned projects are now part of my work-life, translated into English so they can be easily understood.
Web-comics
Here you can read all the webcomics I’ve done in the past with KoriStudio’s name. I really enjoyed these cute strips, because they were written by my husband, so it was very fun to create content together, but now he has a lot of work and can’t dedicate himself to writing more about them. He also helped me to write some other stuff, such as The Liar Princess, Sonna Chronicles, so we still work together but in a different way.
Tiras Chibis (Chibi Strips)
This comic was just simple Strips with anime characters. I wanted to do something simple. And this came to life.
Bollodramas Cibernéticos (Just Spanish)
This comic was quite controversial at the time, as it dealt with some rather divisive topics. However, I wanted to experiment with other themes, and I also really enjoyed drawing it.
La familia de Rika (Rika’s Family)
This comic was made to tell some stories about our life, so it was just a Slice of life from my parrot Rika’s perspective. Actually I don’t do more of these strips anymore, but I decided to use my character to create the game Rika’s Adventures that is now available for download at Google Play.
Webseries
On another subject, we really enjoyed creating these few web series and uploading them to YouTube, but unfortunately they weren’t as successful as we hoped for. You can watch them online with English subtitles—our main language is Spanish, so you can also hear them in their original language.
Los nefásticos
This series was created in 2014 as a personal project. Although it wasn’t successful, I cherish it, as the script was written by my mother, and the voices are by my sister and my husband.
La familia de Rika
Animated shorts created from my webcomic “Rika’s Family”. Created in 2015 to experiment with a different type of animation based on our daily lives.
Dragon Ball Super Chafa
A Dragon Ball Super parody created in 2016 for a personal project. Although it wasn’t successful, I cherish it, as the script was written by my husband and we both did the voice acting. The Zamasu Saga had just aired in Japan at the time, and we came up with the idea for this parody.
Vidas Adolescentes
Simple web series. The description was: Discover the darkest secrets of characters from the world of animation.
Un cuento de hadas
Animation made in 2014 based on a comic I created several years ago. The song was composed and sung by my sister.
Godogreda y Tobias
Animated web series created in 2015 as a personal project. Although it wasn’t successful, I cherish it, as it was written and narrated by my husband. It was the first series I created based on absurdity.
I also started new projects! My Life in Doodles, Sonna Chronicles, and some time-lapses on my YouTube channel. Maybe I will do some animations in the future, but only time will tell. I have never been a popular person, so it has been complicated for me to make myself heard on social networks, but well, I don’t lose hope that one day they will be useful for something. I know I’m a hopeless dreamer, but I really enjoy making new art and new projects, so besides my low traffic, I enjoy drawing and trying to do new stories and art.
Anyway, I just want to write this small post to say goodbye to this part of my life and start new projects focused on myself, not a trademark. I hope you enjoy all my new work and feel free to follow me on any of my social networks.
